Funded Programs

Books for Babies
New parents and grandparents in our library district receive a "Welcome New Baby" package from the NCLF containing a coupon for "baby's first library card", a baby board book, and lots of information on introducing books to newborns — because it's never too early to share books with your baby.

Baby Story Time
Wednesdays from 10:30 – 11:00 o'clock AM the Nederland Community Library hosts Baby Story Time, introducing babies to books, stories, and songs. It also brings new parents together in our rural mountain community.

Pre-School Story Time
Thursdays from 10:30 – 11:30 o'clock AM, Story Time introduces pre-schoolers to books, songs, interactive play, and crafts. Groups of children often "graduate" from Baby Story Time to Pre-School Story Time where they make friends and move on together to kindergarten at Nederland Elementary School.

Summer Reading Program
The Summer Reading Program engages children in books, songs, theatre, and arts and crafts. Children ages 4-7 and 8–12 meet weekly during the summer at the library, and special awards and prizes are given to encourage children to read at home.

Opera for Everyone
During the 2007 – 08 opera seasons, the library offered an opera learning program to everyone from age 8 to 80 and from rank beginner to opera afficianado. "Opera for Everyone" provided lectures, seminars and performances that focused on operas performed that season by Opera Colorado, the University of Colorado Opera and Central City Opera. As part of the program, NCLF also helped start a collection of opera resource books and opera DVDs for the library. "Opera for Everyone" was so successful that it most likely will be back by popular demand.

Special Events
The Foundation funds special programs from time to time such as book signings, poetry readings, travelogues and other cultural events.
